In this session, we will explore the importance of understanding and recognizing generational anxiety. Attendees will utilize historical factors to determine when the anxious generations began, how and if their anxieties were treated, and when they began having children of their own. Are there ways we as clinicians can be introspective and recognize
some of these behaviors and symptoms in our own lives? What may be the best approach when generation anxieties are present?
Objectives:
- Define when the anxious generations began and what started the trend & recognize the importance of understanding generational anxiety and examine the impact generational anxiety has on mental health.
- Attendees will be able to identify the symptoms of generational anxiety by gaining an understanding of the larger lens perspective.
- Explore and discuss best approaches, resources, and solutions when working with anxious children who come from homes with anxiety. What approaches might you take and what might need to be changed to better adjust for this population?
