Research shows the significant and long-lasting benefits that secure attachments, positive parenting, and early intervention can have on a child’s long-term functioning. On the other hand, trauma, stress, and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) can have a lasting toll on health, wellness, and growth if intervention is not provided. What is often not recognized is the cruciality of mental health functioning in the earliest years. Practices and techniques based in attachment theory, research, and evidence-based practices offered through a trauma-informed lens show the benefits not only to strengthen a parent-child relationship, but also for a human’s optimal brain and social-emotional development, beginning from the earliest days of a child’s life
Through this workshop, participants will learn to:
- Recognize the importance of early childhood relationships and mental health in future development.
- Understand the impact of early childhood trauma on cognitive, emotional, and language development.
- Become aware of protective factors and best practices for treating young children.
